Which Test To Choose?

IELTS Academic:

If you plan to attend university for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree you will need to take IELTS Academic test.

IELTS General Training:

Whether you need work-related training or if you intend to immigrate to an English-speaking country, IELTS General Training provides the language skills needed to participate fully in your country of choice.

Test Formats & Results:

You can give IELTS test for Academic or General Training, but Listening and Speaking Modules are the same in both tests.

If you are planning to study abroad, you must take Academic Reading & Writing Modules.

If you are planning to apply for immigration/work, you are required to take General Reading & Writing Modules.

However, all the candidates are required to appear for all four modules during the test.

Assessment of the test is done on nine levels called Bands.

There is no pass or fail; you receive bands ranging from 1 to 9 in each module and an overall average band.

The results of the IELTS Tests are valid for two years.

Test Durations

The total duration of the test, which includes all the modules, is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Listening – 30 Minutes

Reading – 60 Minutes

Writing – 60 Minutes

Speaking – 15 Minutes
